Looking for a Romantic Winter Getaway? Consider Courmayeur, Italy!

CourmayeurCourmayeur, Italy — only a few places in the world could honestly claim to be a better spot for a romantic winter getaway.  The village sits in the shadow of fabled Mont Blanc, one of the world’s most beautiful and well-known mountains.  It’s the highest peak in the Alps and the European Union.

Most of you have heard of Mont Blanc, and some of you may have been lucky enough to spend some time there.  Chances are good that you stayed at one of the big ski resorts on the French side of the mountain.  If so, you were probably at Chamonix or Saint-Gervains-les-Bains, both of which are located in the Haute-Savoie region of France.  Chamonix, after all, is one of the most famous ski resorts on the planet and the site of the first-ever Winter Olympic Games.  Little Courmayeur is on the other, southern side of Mont Blanc, nestled in the Aosta Valley of Italy.  The funny thing is that the skiing and other winter sports at Courmayeur are every bit as good as at Chamonix or Saint-Gervains-les-Bains, even though Courmayeur isn’t as well-known as a ski resort.
