Fishing in Courmayeur Italy

While skiing is the most popular reason to visit Courmayeur, this is an activity that is most enjoyed during the winter months, although visitors during the warmer months still will have the opportunity to ski as well.  But if you are visiting during the warmer months, you will still want to find some more summer-like activities to participate in.  And one of those activities that you can participate in is fishing.

Freshwater fishing is an activity that anybody can enjoy, particularly when it comes time to cook and eat the fish.  There are numerous rivers and Alpine lakes that you can fish in too, and a long list of delicious fish that can be caught.  A day out at one of these lakes makes for a great picnic, especially if you are in an area where you can get a fire going and can have the tools you need to cook the fish right there.  It doesn’t get any fresher than when you pull a fish right out of the water and cook it right away.  You will certainly taste the difference, and the time spent on your fishing outing will provide for some great Courmayeur memories.  Before you decide on a fishing trip during your stay in Courmayeur, though, there are just a few things that you will want to know.

  1. A License is Required in Most Areas – Fishing in most areas in and around Courmayeur requires a license, so if you plan to fish you will want to look into what it takes to get one before you go.  If you do not want to deal with getting a license you can try to locate the areas in which you do not need one and strictly fish in those areas.
  2. Some Areas to Fish are No Kill Zones – You will also want to watch out for no kill zones when fishing in Courmayeur.  These areas are more for those that fish as a sport, so if you want to eat your catch these are not the areas to go to.
  3. There are Numerous Places to Fish – Finally, you will want to look at all of the different areas to fish before deciding.  There are numerous different spots, and what you can or can’t catch will be based partially on where you fish.

Fishing in Courmayeur is a great way to pass time, but you have to make sure that you are following all the rules if you really want to enjoy it.
